Selective Laser Trabeculoplasty (SLT)

Also known as Selective Laser Trabeculoplasty, SLT lowers IOP as effectively as medication, has a consistent safety profile, and – best of all – is efficacious at every stage of the glaucoma treatment algorithm.

SLT is an advanced, non-thermal laser therapy works by stimulating a natural healing response in the eye to manage intraocular pressure. Utilizing nanosecond laser technology, SLT promotes cellular regeneration without the burn and scar tissue associated with other laser procedures. More than 3000 Ellex-manufactured SLT systems are in use worldwide. Offering superior energy control, a sharp-edged aiming beam and the fastest firing rate at 3 shots per second, Ellex’s proprietary SLT technology allows you to visualize the trabecular meshwork in greater detail, and to perform procedures faster and with improved accuracy – delivering better patient outcomes.

Ellex offers two SLT laser models:

Tango Reflex™ combines multiple treatment platforms – SLT for glaucoma, laser vitreolysis for floaters, and capsulotomy and iridotomy treatments – in a single, advanced laser system.

Tango™ SLT/YAG combination laser system allows you to instantly switch between SLT and YAG modes at the touch of a button – making procedures as efficient as possible.

IMPORTANT! Not All SLT/YAG Lasers Are Created Equal

You may be surprised to learn that most laser suppliers outsource their SLT and YAG cavity production to third-party manufacturers. In fact, Ellex is one of only two ophthalmic companies that possess the necessary technical expertise to manufacture dual-mode SLT/YAG laser technology. Just as you should know who manufactures the engine in your car, it is important to know who actually manufactures your SLT/YAG dual-mode laser cavity before you make your purchase decision – it may help you avoid costly surprises down the track.
