Appointment of New Chief Financial Officer, Company Secretary
Adelaide, Australia, 28 October 2008 – Ellex Medical Lasers Limited (ASX:ELX), a global leader in the design and manufacture of ophthalmic laser and ultrasound systems, announced today the appointment of Melanie Young as Chief Financial Officer (CFO), effective immediately. Ellex also announced the appointment of Giuseppe Canala as Company Secretary. These appointments follow the departure of Tony Mitchell.
Ms. Young joined Ellex in January 2005 in the role of Group Accountant, and subsequently assumed the role of Financial Controller to manage all facets of the Company’s global finance function.
Ms. Young brings more than ten years’ experience in financial management and business advisory management, having previously worked for the Growth Solutions division of Deloitte Australia. She holds a Bachelor of Commerce from Deakin University, Victoria, and is a Chartered Accountant.
Commenting on Ms. Young’s appointment, Mr. Simon Luscombe, Ellex CEO, said “We are delighted that Melanie has joined the Executive Management Team in the capacity of CFO. Melanie has made a dedicated contribution during her time at Ellex, and brings considerable financial management experience. Mr. Canala’s appointment as Company Secretary follows his recent appointment as a Non-Executive Director of the Ellex Board. “In his joint role as a Director and Company Secretary, Mr. Canala will build on his knowledge of our operations and considerable expertise in the ophthalmic industry to better serve Ellex shareholders,” commented Victor Previn, Ellex Chairman.
