Ellex attending major tradeshow in China

Ellex Medical Lasers Limited (ASX:ELX), a global leader in medical technologies for the diagnosis and treatment of eye disease, today announced that it will exhibit its portfolio of ophthalmic laser products for the Chinese market at the Asia Pacific Academy of Ophthalmology (APAO) convention in Guangzhou, China, from 1-4 April 2015.

Ellex has an established sales distribution network in China and has achieved significant sales traction in recent times via its trade partner, but APAO 2015 will mark the first time the Company itself has exhibited its comprehensive laser technology portfolio at a major convention in China.

“The sales of Ellex product in Asia have doubled over the past three years and it now represents 8% of global revenues for our business,” reported Ellex CEO Tom Spurling.

“The number of cataract surgeries per capita performed in China is approximately 10% of that performed in the US market. This relatively low number compared with the US indicates the potential demand for our products going forward as access to healthcare improves in China,” added Mr Spurling.

Among the key products to be displayed at the Ellex exhibit at APAO will be the Company’s proprietary Ultra Q Reflex™ “floater buster” laser, the iTrack™ Canaloplasty microcatheter and the Tango™ SLT/YAG laser for glaucoma and capsulotomy treatments.
